About This Site

This blog is primarily intended to keep our family and friends up-to-date on where we are and where we’re going as we drive around the country as long-haul truckers. But it’s also a chance to share some observations about life on the road and life in general.

The title is a reference to one of the things we find so attractive about driving a truck (which weighs 40 tons – 80,000 pounds – when fully loaded); it allows us to travel all over this great country of ours, see the sights, and get paid while we're doing it!

Mike's newest "hero"

I (Mike) really like the writings of Thomas Sowell (so much so that I've added a link to his website on our "Favorite Links" menu on the right). I stumbled across a commentary of his related to gas prices a few weeks back and have been checking his website ever since.

His style is easy to understand and he cuts right to the heart of whatever topic he's discussing. For those of you who would like to get the conservative point-of-view on today's issues, I encourage you to read Mr. Sowell's pieces.
