This blog is primarily intended to keep our family and friends up-to-date on where we are and where we’re going as we drive around the country as long-haul truckers. But it’s also a chance to share some observations about life on the road and life in general.
The title is a reference to one of the things we find so attractive about driving a truck (which weighs 40 tons – 80,000 pounds – when fully loaded); it allows us to travel all over this great country of ours, see the sights, and get paid while we're doing it!

More big news from this weekend
Shannon's graduation wasn't the only big event that took place this past weekend while Lori was home. Her boyfriend, Chris, became her fiancee Saturday after "popping the question."
They're planning on an August wedding; thankfully it's August 2009 so Mike and Lori can have a year to "recover" from Lizzie's wedding this coming July.
We’re Mike and Lori, a middle-aged couple that decided to make a huge change in our professional and personal lives by becoming long-haul truck drivers. (You can read more about the how and why of that decision in "Really? Why!? - Parts I and II.")
There are lots of things we could tell you so you can get to know us, and we probably will in the weeks and months to come. But we believe the most important thing is that we are born-again Christians. It provides the foundation for how we view the world, instructs us on how we are to relate to everyone around us, and fills us with a sense of peace and well-being that can only come from knowing God is in charge of everything and that He wants only the best for us.
