We've heard more and more talk from politicians (especially presidential candidates) about what the government can and should do to address the ever-increasing price of gas and diesel fuel. While things like a "gas tax holiday" might ease the pain temporarily, what's really needed is for the government to "do" less - in terms of restrictions and regulations.
A recent commentary on the website of The Heritage Foundation echoes what Mike believes needs to happen in order to address the problem - allow more drilling and construction of new refineries. Human Events.com contains a related article discussing how over-zealous environmental groups are impacting our ability to maximize our oil resources.
About This Site
This blog is primarily intended to keep our family and friends up-to-date on where we are and where we’re going as we drive around the country as long-haul truckers. But it’s also a chance to share some observations about life on the road and life in general.
The title is a reference to one of the things we find so attractive about driving a truck (which weighs 40 tons – 80,000 pounds – when fully loaded); it allows us to travel all over this great country of ours, see the sights, and get paid while we're doing it!
